Nothing to show

It's been a great weekend so far.

We've:
*had a visit from my parents
*had my end-of-the-year piano recital {and my students did totally awesome!}
*eaten a free breakfast at the park
*bought paint to paint {the outside of} our house in a few weeks
*had a Lunchable and Kool-Aid picnic at the park

But unfortunately, I haven't taken a single picture.
And thus, I have nothing to show for it.
Better luck next time, right?

A Princess Tale

Meet Princess Daisy.
She is almost three years old.
She works during the day to make toys {specifically necklaces} and cookies for little children.
Her prince is named Joseph.
He's not here right now.
He'll be back next Tuesday.
And he's not going to kiss her because he's too handsome.
The end.

Taking matters into her own hands

At approximately 3:55 yesterday afternoon I left the room.
Jane decided that Dick needed to finish his snack.
She gave him the rest of his banana along with the butter knife I had been using to cut it.
Perfect solution?
To her it was.

Beaming with pride? I think so.

Something I've learned the hard way:

{cottage cheese...Jane's a big texture person}

When giving your baby or toddler a new food to try, always have a hand under his/her chin poised and ready to catch what they involuntarily start spitting out.

Birthday Boy

This is my Dad on his birthday last week,
with nine of his grandchildren.
We were missing four more.
My kids didn't want to cooperate.
It is a tough feat trying to get a decent picture of nine, wiggly kids.
But oh boy, they are cute.
I'm a lucky aunt.
And my Dad's a lucky grandpa.
Aren't families the best?

New Baby

Meet my newest little nephew.

Oh boy, he is perfect.
Don't you just melt in his sweet, sleepy newborn-ness?

We got to see him for the second time last weekend.
Dick and Jane gave him plenty of hugs and kisses.

It may look like he's licking, but trust me, he's kissing.

It was hard to hand him over when it was time to go.

Grandma's toys are the best.

Especially the retro ones, like these:

And of course this classic, from the 1970s:

Brown-eyed cousins

Can you believe these two are almost five months apart? They're practically the same size and they are oh so cute together.

Our weekend in words.

A few words to describe our weekend so far:

road trip, Charlotte's Web, cousins, french toast, 24 marathon {season 6}, buttered popcorn, grandma and grandpa, noisy keyboard, birthday party, new baby, painted toenails, carrot cake, empty bed {hubby gone on campout}, pictures, mint Oreos, indoor slide, mindless tv, messy playroom.

It's been a good weekend.
Happy Saturday!

Translation

Just in case you couldn't tell, Jane is saying:
"Mommy, can you come outside lots and lots?"

What's for dessert?

Rhubarb Dessert.
Compliments of spring finally deciding to come.
I had about 15 hefty stalks ripe and ready to be pulled.
We shared with the neighbors and sat in the backyard in the shade.
Yeah, we're so ready for summer.

A Letter

Dear Baby Dick,
You are so cute.
I love watching you toddle around in the grass.
And I feel bad for you when you fall down where it is uneven.
And I'm sorry that you had hat-hair and wanted me to pick you up but instead I just kept taking pictures of you because I thought your pouty faces were cute.
Will you please forgive me?
Love,
Your Mama

It must be a good nap when...

you don't even know you're sleeping on your binky and it makes an imprint on your face.

Coppertone

 Just wondering today...

Do any of you NOT have a childhood memory associated with the smell of sunscreen?
It makes me think of swimming.
And when I put it on Dick and Jane yesterday afternoon, I had a craving for a snow cone.
Summer, here we come.
