Grow Garden, Grow

Here's the small start of our summer bounty.

Red, ripening strawberries and thriving squash plants.

We've also got carrots and peas poking up.

Mmmm, I'm already hungry for zucchini bread and steamed yellow squash.

And check out these mayflies.

They plaster themselves to the east side of our house in the shade every evening.

They wouldn't bother me as much if they wouldn't land on me.

But I don't like being inspected by insects.

I was flicking them off right and left just trying to get this picture.

We have practically been living outside these past few days.

Summer

Last week was insanely busy, hence the lack of posts.
I went to my parent's house to visit.
I went to my cousin's baby shower.
My kids "helped" my dad work on his new shop outside.
We made cookies and desserts for Father's Day.
We played with Legos and Lincoln Logs and dishes and Barbies.
And since we don't have TV at home, I spent an unreasonable amount of time watching TLC.


And now it's nice to be home.
And the weather.
Oh, the weather.
I think summer has finally decided to come.
There is not one day of rain predicted in the 10 day forecast.
Finally.
I think I might mow the lawn, and then we'll be in the pool.

I guess I gave Dick too much maple syrup to dip his french toast sticks in this morning.

I left the kitchen for five minutes and came back to Syrup Face.

Sorry, I've been MIA.

I went to my sister's house this week.
It was such a blast.
We went shopping 
ate pizza
jumped around in bouncy houses {with the kids of course}
watched TV shows on Netflix
and stuffed our faces with starbursts and donuts...mmmmmm.


My kids were so spoiled by her older kids.
And now I don't quite know what to do with them.
They've had their own personal entertainment for the past four days.
Yikes. Can me and the hubby replace four active, exciting and animated cousins?


{I will not admit {Oh wait, I am} that I took zero pictures while I was there. That's right, zero. I know, it's embarrassing. My camera sat unhappily unused in my suitcase the entire time. My sis has the nice camera anyways, so I let her take all the pictures. That's my excuse.}

Holiday Drive

One Memorial Day, we spent some time driving up in the mountains to visit The Falls.

 

Let me just say that it has been way too long since I've been in the mountains. As I candidly mentioned in my last post, it was incredibly refreshing and wonderful. Cold, but wonderful.

And these falls were beautiful.

Waterfalls never cease to amaze me. I always find myself thinking, "Ok...when's the water going to run out?"

These kiddos had fun.

This kid had an awesome nap yesterday. I think it's manifested by his sweet bed hair.

After seeing that daddy had cut his own hair a few mornings ago, Jane wanted to perform her magic on Dick.

She was so gentle and used such precision. I guess being able to cut hair runs in the family.
